Blakeney is an artist and a California surfer that I met through my awesome (CA) assistant, Lisa. Blakeney invited both of us to stay over at her place on this amazing ranch north of Santa Barbara. Her hospitality knew no bounds as she wined and dined us that evening. The following morning we went to Jalama to make some pictures. We chose her homemade Alia board for this shot, featuring the Nautilus inlaid with mother of pearl.

Mel is another beautiful surfer that I was introduced to in Byron Bay. For this shot I positioned Mel amongst the Pandanus palms and used the Jamin Darlot portrait lens. This amazing lens has no shutter, so often the photograph would be a little over exposed. Trying to take the exposure down a little, I used farmers reducer which ended up leaving these crazy dark spots everywhere. Spots or not, I thought Mel deserved a day in the sun!
Mad love for California Candy wetsuits.
